'Jonesy' CD Review for BN1 Magazine

After a long hiatus, founding member Trevor 'Gypsy' Jones has revived the 'Jonesy' brand with a self confessed personal journey by way of a new concept album, called 'Dark Matter (Inner Space)'. As befitting the bands original prog-rock origins (the band enjoyed significant touring success in the 1970's) this latest offering is steeped in Floydesque sonic landscapes, dark and intricate atmospherics; all expertly layered and exquisitely produced by Jones skilled hand. Today's generation of music lovers might gain a connection with 'Inner Space' through contemporary artists like Sigor Ross and other exponents of ambient, space-age and ethereal music, whilst older hands will instantly recognise the mellotron fuelled stylings of classic 70's prog rock. Like the best of Pink Floyd's most celebrated material perhaps, this Jonesy album could, with the right marketing, potentially appeal to a wide range of people. Whilst none of it is necessarily challenging listening, it is nonetheless an album which is best enjoyed the old fashioned way - uninterrupted and as a whole, without distraction and benefiting from the use of a good set of headphones in a darkened room. Lady Gaga disposable pop it ain't - and so much the better for it. Check it out.http://jonesytheband.com/
